The Board of Directors of Flensburg, German-based compressor manufacturer Secop GmbH announced on May 3 the immediate appointment of Dr. Andreas J. Schmid as the company’s new Group Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Schmid joins Secop after more than 20 years of international experience as a board member, managing director, and manager. Under his responsibility, the Funkwerk, Schaltbau, and FCT groups have grown “sustainably and profitably,” said Secop in a statement.
In addition to strategic corporate development and the development of new business areas, he has extensive and in-depth knowledge in mergers & acquisitions, PMI, portfolio management, lean management, and digitalization, noted Secop.
Dr. Schmid studied physics at Technical University of Munich and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Technical University of Darmstadt.

Secop is increasing its emphasis on propane (R290) and R600a refrigerants for its commercial compressors, with growing attention to variable-speed units,
Secop has 1,350 employees worldwide with production sites in Slovakia and China as well as research centers in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, China, and the U.S. Secop was acquired by the ESSVP IV fund in September 2019.
