By the end of 2017 the Refrigerants, Naturally! members (Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Red Bull and Unilever) had collectively implemented 7.25 million natural refrigerant units, avoiding the emission of around 43.5 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent. This is equal to the annual emissions of more than 8.86 million passenger vehicles.
By sharing technical information and developing their networks, the Refrigerants, Naturally! members have actively supported the development and dissemination of knowhow in servicing natural refrigerant-based systems and promoted innovation and best practice to non-members, particularly in developing-country and emerging-economy markets.
By the end of 2017 three of the member companies had reached their goal of procuring 100% natural refrigerant-based new equipment, with the last firm on course to reach that goal in 2020.
The members call on other industry stakeholders and end users of refrigeration and freezing equipment to follow their example by adopting natural refrigerants.
