Japanese manufacturer Nidec announced this week that it is expanding its U.S. aftermarket division, adding Embraco-branded compressors and condensing units to its existing U.S. Motors offerings.

“I’m excited that we are adding Embraco compressor products to the HVACR Aftermarket customer base in the United States,” said Ryan Wade, Sales and Marketing Vice President at HVACR Motors, in a statement. “The union of both portfolios deepens our breadth in the aftermarket marketplace.”

In 2019, Nidec acquired Embraco –  a major global supplier of propane (R290) compressors and condensing units – from Whirlpool, adding it to the Nidec Global Appliance division. In the beginning of 2020, Nidec Corporation’s HVAC&R business unit, responsible for the U.S Motors brand, also joined the Global Appliance division, aiming to “leverage synergies among the strong brands and resources.”

Both brands are already known by OEMs, wholesalers and distributors on the U.S. market. U.S. Motors offers variable speed electronically commutated motors and NEMA Premium efficient motors for HVAC&R products, and will be widening its offerings through the addition of Embraco’s products.

Embraco is a pioneer in the development of hydrocarbon compressors for domestic and commercial applications. The company manufactures both fixed- and variable speed models, and one in five compressors in the world today is sold under the Embraco brand, according to Nidec’s statement. Embraco also provides complete refrigeration circuits such as sealed and condensing units, as well as service parts, such as inverters and capacitors.

The Nidec Global Appliance division is present in the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Slovakia, Romania, Italy, Russia and China. It includes 11 manufacturing plants, six R&D centers, three sales offices and a global business support center.

Nidec was founded in Japan in 1973. It is a global leader on the manufacture of motors for washing machines, dryers and dish washers. The company now owns more than 300 consolidated and affiliated subsidiaries around the world and has more than 110,000 employees.

“The union of both portfolios deepens our breadth in the aftermarket marketplace.”
