Brazilian refrigeration technology manufacturer Embraco, which is part of Nidec Global Appliance, will be launching three of its propane (R290)-based variable-speed compressors –VEMT, VEH and VNEX – in China for the food service and food retail markets.

The manufacturer has also announced that it will start production of its R290 fixed-speed NEX compressors at the Nidec Global Appliance factory in Beijing.

Embraco will be showcasing the four compressors at booth 4.1G01 at Hotelex Shanghai – the International Hospitality Equipment and Foodservice Expo – which takes place May 29 to June 1.

“China is a very important country in our growth strategy, and we see Hotelex as the perfect opportunity to showcase our new solutions for commercial applications targeted to this market,” said Daniel Campos, Commercial Appliances Vice-President at Nidec Global Appliance.

The introduction of these products to China’s commercial refrigeration sector is part of Embraco’s commitment to support the global transition to inverter technology, which offers energy savings, lower noise and better food preservation.

Efficient, robust and versatile

“Marked by high energy efficiency, robustness and versatility, [our compressors] deliver a wide range of cooling capacity options, all ready for R290,” said Embraco.

The VEMT compressor is suitable for food service applications such as merchandizers, bottle coolers and under counters. Its variable-speed technology ensures reliability at any voltage, in addition to energy savings and low noise, explained the manufacturer. It has a COP of 1.72 and offers a cooling capacity of up to 434W (0.1TR).

The VEH range is focused on food service and food retail applications, such as freezers and coolers in professional kitchens, as well as frozen islands in supermarkets. It has a cooling capacity of 228–940W (0.06–0.3TR), depending on the model, and a COP of 1.71–1.77.

The VNEX is Embraco’s new variable-speed reciprocating compressor for large food retail applications in low and medium temperatures. It is suitable for commercial reach-in freezers with up to 5 doors, as well as large open-air refrigerators. According to the manufacturer, the VNEX offers the highest cooling capacity and energy efficiency of its class.

The NEX is designed for a range of applications, including professional kitchen reach-ins, under counters and display cases, and can cover cooling capacities of up to 1kW (0.3TR).

In addition to the new products, Embraco will be showing it EH, NT and NJ compressors at Hotelex. The manufacturer will be presenting these products connected to their target applications, such as ice makers, display cases and wine coolers.

Improved service

By producing its NEX compressor line locally in China, Embraco has said it hopes to improve service levels and delivery lead times.

“This new manufacturing line in China is part of our global strategy of local production, which means having strategic products manufactured in factories close to the market regions they are targeted to, allowing us to offer local support with improved service level and avoid logistics disruptions,” said Guilherme Almeida, who was recently appointed President of Nidec Global Appliance. “In China, specifically, we will also have our Sales Director for the Asia Pacific Region, Esequias Pereira, living in the country, in order to offer agility and proximity to this market.”
