Chinese heat pump manufacturer PHNIX says overseas orders for its residential propane (R290) heat pumps in February 2022 quadrupled compared to the same period in 2021, according to a March 15 press release.

“In February, the cumulative amount of PHNIX overseas orders received for R290 heat pump for house heating/cooling +DHW is quadrupled of that in 2021, which indicated that PHNIX R290 heat pump products met the demand of [the] overseas market and conformed to the current global trend of carbon neutrality,” said PHNIX.

PHNIX launched its first R290 heat pumps for residential applications in the beginning of 2021. The launch gained the attention of several customers in Europe who purchased samples for testing that led to subsequent orders, the company said.

The company’s GreenTherm series of R290 heat pumps has obtained both CE and UKCA certification. The heat pumps have an EU energy label with an A+++ rating (the highest level) and employ inverter EVI (enhanced vapor injection) technology. The R290 charge ranges from 0.5 to 1.3kg (1.1 to 2.9lbs).

The company offers two R290 heat pump types: one for home space heating and cooling and one for domestic hot water.

The company attributes its increased sales to the recent global trend towards achieving carbon neutrality and decarbonization of buildings,

“The scheme of carbon neutrality worldwide has had a profound impact on the global economic development,” said Jab Fan, Sales Director in charge of PHNIX’s house heating/cooling+ DHW heat pump division.

“The [gain] in the volume of orders and shipments in February proved that our R290 products are in line with the world trend of environmental development and means that it’s the right choice for PHNIX to develop R290 eco-friendly products that are corresponding to the carbon neutrality goal,” he added.

“The [gain] in the volume of orders and shipments in February proved that our R290 products are in line with the world trend of environmental development.”
