Brazilian compressor manufacturer Embraco, a pioneer in natural refrigerant and variable speed compressors for household and commercial applications, celebrated its 50th year as a brand, on March 10.

According to Embraco, its brand is present in more than 80 countries, and it is responsible for one of every five hermetic compressors in the world.

As part of its anniversary celebration, Embraco, part of Nidec Global Appliance since 2019,  is launching Refresh the Future, a campaign that seeks to underline the brand’s commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology that is energy efficient and sustainable.

Part of the campaign is a video detailing Embraco’s achievements and vision. It can be viewed here.

The video aims to highlight the fact that Embraco “delivers high performance and energy-efficient solutions in refrigeration, and, most importantly, solutions that help customers to improve their own products and businesses,” the company said in a statement.

Some of the achievements in the company’s first 50 years include being among the first to launch compressors using isobutane (R600a) in 1994, and to introduce energy-saving variable-speed compressors in 1998. The company is also a major producer of propane (R290) compressors and condensing units.

Embraco’s parent company, Nidec Global Appliance, recently completed a business reorganization creating three new business units: commercial appliances, HVAC and home appliances. The structural changes were implemented throughout 2020 with “the goal to operate with a more dedicated focus on the specific market segments in which the division is present, increasing speed and customer focus,” the company said.

In February 2021, Nidec partnered with Accelerate Japan, to position itself on the Japanese market in anticipation of growing demand for propane-based systems in Japan’s commercial food retail sector. Accelerate Japan is published by shecco, publisher of
