LIFE FRONT: Webinar to look at barriers to flammable refrigerants

Apr 25, 2018 - Apr 25, 2018 - in Online Webinar, .

The free webinar, organised by the EU project LIFE FRONT, will focus on barriers to hydrocarbons in terms of standards and codes and testing done on equipment that use these refrigerants.

LIFE FRONT, an EU-funded project that aims to remove barriers to hydrocarbons and contribute to wider uptake of refrigeration, heating and air-conditioning equipment using hydrocarbon refrigerants, announced it will hold a free webinar on 25th April at 15:00 (CEST).

The webinar will outline the objectives and expected outcomes from the project, as well as the work completed so far, that is aimed at increasing the uptake of hydrocarbon-based technology.

Industry project partners will also be on hand to explain ongoing testing of refrigerant equipment that use hydrocarbons. This will focus on leak size and mass flow refrigerant release.

The webinar is aimed at encouraging experts from industry, academia, trade bodies and NGOs, to get involved in the LIFE FRONT project by joining the Standards Action Group (SAG).

The SAG group aims to look at the development of EU and international safety standards, which cover environmental, safety and product design criteria, and apply to hydrocarbon refrigerants.

During the webinar LIFE FRONT will further outline the scope of the SAG and explain how interested experts can join.

About LIFE FRONT

The LIFE FRONT project is funded under LIFE, the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the bloc. It involves six partners in four European countries, and is coordinated by shecco, a market accelerator for climate technologies and natural refrigerants. Other project partners are AIT - Deutschland, AHT, ECOS, HEAT, and NIBE.

The project is also running a survey to collect data and decisive insights on the standards and barriers for flammable refrigerants within the EU until 16 April 2018.

The survey is available here: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4150423/LIFE-FRONT-WP3-2-Survey

Results will be made available in September 2018.
