The Italian multinational won a World Beverage Innovation Award in the category ‘Best environmental sustainability initiative’ for its Heez control solution for beverage coolers.
On 14 September, CAREL took home the ‘Best environmental sustainability initiative category’ at the World Beverage Innovation Awards 2017 in Munich, Germany for its Heez control solution for beverage coolers.
The Heez is designed to increase the efficiency for beverage coolers by managing its cooling system, which typically uses a hydrocarbon as a refrigerant.
“[It] validates our efforts and our approach towards a more responsible and sustainable industry.”
– Alessandro Greggio, CAREL Group’s head of refrigeration and retail
“The fact that Heez won this award emphasises CAREL’s excellent reputation as long-standing company driver of innovation within the industry and validates our efforts and our approach towards a more responsible and sustainable industry,” said Alessandro Greggio, the CAREL Group’s head of refrigeration and retail.
CAREL recommends adopting propane as the refrigerant, in combination with the Heez control solution, to help reduce environmental impact and energy consumption.
Tests conducted by an accredited laboratory on a beverage cooler equipped with the Heez solution, CAREL says, showed energy consumption corresponding to an EEI (Energy Efficiency Index) that is 47% lower than the average in the European Union.
This has been achieved without compromising beverage pulldown times, which with the Heez were reduced by 62% in the tests that were carried out.
The results are similar even with open-front and glass-door beverage coolers, according to CAREL.
