Italian water cooler manufacturer BLUPURA Srl has been acquired by the Culligan Group, another water technology provider, headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, U.S.

Culligan boasts 600 dealers in the United States and Canada and sells its softeners, bottled-water for residential and office applications and water filtration systems in more than 90 countries.

Blupura, founded in 2008, sees its use of natural refrigerants as a central pillar of its wider sustainability efforts. All its products run on hydrocarbons only. It is currently in the process of moving its entire production line to propane (R290).

The Culligan Group acquired Blupura on 17 May 2017 and the announcement was made to the stock exchange on 8 June 2017. Blupura hopes its acquisition by Culliganp will widen its customer base.

Luca Costantini and Gianni Grottini, the two founding partners of Blupura and current co-CEOs, will retain full management of the company.
